A self-taught ceramic artist, Lim Kim Hui has travelled and researched in Bizen, Karatsu, Tokoname, Arita and Shigaraki, in Japan. His illustrious career spans almost 40 years, beginning from the time he trained and taught at Ming Village Ceramics, Singapore.

Kim Hui’s works infuse naturalist philosophy as well as a certain Japanese influence, emphasizing the beauty of the adornment and the naturalness of raw materials.

Founder and Master Potter at Ceramic House, he also teaches pottery at various schools in Singapore. Those who love the ash-glazed pottery works that are likened to that of Japanese burnt wood, have come to associate with such works produced at Ceramic House.
