Hans graduated from the School of the Arts (SOTA), Singapore, majoring in ceramics. He is currently in his second year studying in Tama Art university, Tokyo, Japan, as a student in the Department of Ceramic, Glass and Metal Works.

Hans’s ceramic practice is a contemplation of his different identities as he observes and responds to his physical environment. Since moving his practice to Japan, Hans has adopted the role of a foreigner. As he views and understands his surroundings through this lens, new sensibilities develop. Hans hopes to translate these into his work. Through this process, he gets a clearer understanding of the contradictions, irony and beauty of Japanese society.
